Our stabilizers are manufactured using the highest quality, high strength alloys available.
Considerations for stabilizer selection: a) Straight rib stabilizers provide less restriction to cuttings flow up the annulus. b) Spiral rib stabilizers provide better stabilization due to full circumferential wall contact within a given stabilizer. c) In most cases, stabilizer selection is made on the basis of experience and personal choice.
Considerations for rib surface selection:
Rib surfaces of sintered tungsten carbide compacts are longer lasting but are very difficult to rebuild to size. For ease of rebuilding, the hardfacing with crushed carbide overlay is recommended.
Maintenance and rebuilding: Stabilizer effectiveness decreases as clearance between ribs and hole wall increases. Experience indicates that effectiveness is lost after 7/16 inches O.D. wear. Gauges are available to measure the accumulated wear.
